Abstract

The objective of the research was to propose theoretical guidelines that contribute to the development of the research competencies of the participants of the Master's Degree in Teaching for Higher Education of the National Experimental University Rafael María Baralt. The variables were supported by the authors Zabalas (2016), Zabalza (2015) (2008), Rivera (2018), among others. Methodologically, the research was of an analytical type, with a non-experimental, transectional, field design. The population consisted of 54 participants of the Master's Degree in Higher Education at the Rafael María Baralt University, Maracaibo; which, according to the computer unit, culminated schooling in the I-2017 and II-2017 periods. A questionnaire was designed, containing 60 items and 5 response alternatives. The validity of the instrument was determined through the technique of expert judgment. For reliability, the Cronbach coefficient was used, yielding a value of 0.89. It is concluded that: Generic, basic and specialized research competences are used at a moderate level. However, its application is required, based on the training received within the master's degree, to ensure that actions that can be adjusted to the requirements are supported, in terms of the content that is imparted, to the profile of the researcher, and its scope of study; what generates a commitment, where the teachers can expand their field of action for intellectual production. A set of theoretical guidelines was formulated in this regard, which will contribute to the development of investigative competences from the beginning of the formation of the people, and reinforced in each stage of the educational process.
