Abstract

The main objective of this research is to determine the incidence of respiratory diseases in medical students from Universidad Latina de Panama during their pediatrics clinical rotation at the Hospital del Niño during the months of August to September of the year 2023. The incidence of respiratory diseases has been a topic of great importance in recent years and even more so in the field of medical students. During clinical rotations, medical students are exposed to different pathogens through which they can acquire nosocomial diseases. Furthermore, the duration of the clinical rotations, over a period of two weeks, is fair and necessary to determine the level of exposure that the medical student may present. It is extremely important to mention that the personal care of the medical student during clinical rotations is essential to prevent the spread of nosocomial diseases. To conclude, this bibliographic review research will be the beginning of a second part where validation instruments, informed consent and approval by the university's bioethics committee will be used. To prepare this article, sources from the Dr. José Renán Esquivel Children's Hospital were used.
