Abstract

The research focuses on the use of artificial intelligence in interactive mental health applications to help modulate the behaviors of adolescents. Adolescents are internally and externally vulnerable due to abrupt changes during their development.

The research was comparative documentary research due to the collection, selection, analysis, and presentation of previously conducted studies focused on the use of AI and its impact on the mental health of the users selected in their tests. Due to the collection of demographics, epidemiological, and statistical data from the studies, it's determined that this research is a cross-sectional study.

Population: Adolescents.

Sample: The demonstration of this study was occasional for convenience, with a total of 36,144 university adults.

Inclusion criteria:

  • Studies conducted on AI applications using cognitive behavior therapy.
  • Applications with more than 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Designed with the collaboration of mental health specialists.
  • Focus on the monitoring of participants through certified tests.
  • Consideration of results and demographic variables both individually and jointly.

Exclusion criteria

  • Studies that only looked at user ratings in app stores.
  • Conversational agents with less than 5 years of experience without validation from mental health experts.
  • Organizations with less than 5 years of activity in the mental health field.

Comparison Results

The comparison results show improvement in the mental health of the users verified by instruments for the detection, diagnosis, follow-up, and severity of depressive symptoms and anxiety.

Conclusion

This research showed that the use of AI is effective in improving users' mental health; therefore, it can be implemented as a helpful tool for adolescents.
